11/15 Program: CODES FOR COLD-FORMED STEEL IN MID-RISE BUILDINGS

  • 1.  11/15 Program: CODES FOR COLD-FORMED STEEL IN MID-RISE BUILDINGS

    Posted 10-31-2023 11:15 AM

Our next program looks at how codes and standards impact the use of just one product, cold-formed steel, a reliable and widely used construction material found in almost all commercial construction projects. In fact, over 80% of commercial interior partitions built in this century used steel framing. Join us at the Masonry Institute on Wednesday, November 15 and learn what codes and standards say about differences between structural and non-structural applications, appropriate detailing techniques, and fire and sound ratings.

Robert Grupe, CSI, General Manager for Architectural Services for the Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA), is our speaker. Bob spent over 38 years with United States Gypsum Company in various technical and management positions including product and systems design and technical consultation to the AEC community.

Our sponsor is ClarkDietrich [ https://www.clarkdietrich.com ], a leading manufacturer of cold-formed metal framing systems, and their local representative, Tom Gant, one of our long-time chapter leaders. Our sponsors keep these monthly programs free and open to all. Visit this link: November Program and let us know if you are attending in person, or online.

We’ll be taking a break in our program schedule in December for our Holiday Party, but we return on January 17, 2024 with our annual look ahead at the construction forecast.
