Subject: PREVIEW: New Programs Coming Soon
Our 2025-2026 Program year starts Wednesday, September 24 and continues through May. Here's a preview of what's confirmed and what's being planned:
- New Earlier Start, Earlier Finish: In response to your suggestions, programs will start at 4:30 PM this year, with a goal of wrapping up by 6:00. Doors open at 4:00 PM if you'd like to enjoy some light appetizers and drinks before the meeting, and there are always a few stalwarts who continue the discussion after hours. We hope this change enables you to fit our meetings in your work and home schedules.
- Same Day, Same Venue: With one or two exceptions, we are back on the second Wednesday of the month at the Masonry Institute.
- Another Education Program at the Product Show: Steve Gantner and I will be crashing the product show again this year, and we'll be bringing Derek Maschek with us for a Panel on Division 01. We'll look at the range of issues lurking in General Requirements, give you our opinions, and respond to your questions and comments.
- We Have a Theme: "Exploring the Outside of the Building" - topics that affect the six sides of the building enclosure.
- We Are Already Starting on Next Year: Our theme from 2026-2027 will be ""Exploring the Inside of the Building" - Suzan Sutcu will be organizing the effort of finding relevant issues that effect the interior. Look for more information during this year on the progress for next year.
We only have a few items undecided, so here's an outline of the schedule:
- September 24: Grenfell Tower Fire: A Review of the Public Inquiry Report I'm pleased to bring a presentation from this year's CSI North Central Region Conference back home to St. Louis. Read about it here: Reviewing The Grenfell Fire Inquiry Report
- October (date tbd): A case study of a curtain wall design – David Charles is working with architect, developer, and curtain wall consultant / fabricator on a local office building to explore the process of getting the skin on the building. More info coming soon..
- November 12: "What's New in Concrete?" Concrete Council brings us Jesse Jonas PE with exiting updates in the world of concrete, featuring generational breakthroughs that solve problems and improve your bottom line.
- January 14: "Economic Forecast 2026" Len Toenjes from AGC-MO has become a tradition for our January meeting. What's 2026 look like for the construction economy in the country, the region, and the St. Louis Area? It's always a lively discussion to start the new year.
- February 11: "Build Better Enclosures: QA/QC Strategies" Joe Dressler will present an analysis of the building envelope - preventing errors, catching errors, and strategies for success.
- March 11: "Window and Glass Performance Standards" The North American Contractor Certification (NACC), assures that glass and metal fabrication will be performed in conformance with the requirements laid out in the program. Find out more in March.
- April 8: "You're the Jury: Student Projects 2026" It's your chance to be the jury as architecture students present projects from their "Professional Practice" class at the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts. Your reviews will determine the top three projects that will receive cash awards from our chapter's "CSI Student Development Grant."
- May 13: (date tba) Steve Gantner is developing a program centering around the recovery from our recent tornado. Stay tuned for more.
Thanks to our board's generosity and fiduciary acumen, we are again able to offer our meetings free to all, members and non-members alike. We'll be posting registration information here on our website starting next week. Hope to see you often this year.
