Two long-term Greater St. Louis Chapter leaders attained Member Emeritus status this year, Russ Wick AIA, CSI, CCS, CDT, and J.C. Rearden AIA, CSI. Both are Chapter Past-Presidents who retired recently from long and distinguished careers as architects. CSI conveys Emeritus status to members who have served the organization with exceptional dedication and made significant contributions over an extended period as a way to honor and recognize their legacies of service and commitment to our mission and goals.

    J.C. Rearden
    J. C. Rearden has been a member since 1979 and served our chapter as President from 1986 to 1987. For many years, he was Principal at Ittner Architects (now Cardogon Clark), the renowned St. Louis architectural firm founded by William B. Ittner, a pioneer in school planning and design. Since 2012, he has served on the State of Missouri Board For Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors & Professional Landscape Architects.  As Architecture Division Chair, J.C. leads the board's efforts to protect the life, health, peace, and safety of the inhabitants of the state, and to protect their property from damage or destruction through dangerous, dishonest, incompetent, or unlawful architectural practice and generally to conserve the public welfare.
Russ Wick served as our President during the 2007-2008 year, our Fiftieth Anniversary. His career as an architect focused on large-scale and government projects, most notably at Jacobs and at Benham, two global leaders in multidisciplinary design and construction. Besides being a frequent presenter for our chapter, Russ was CSI's liaison with the AIA's program committee, bringing our region many years of professional-quality technically oriented continuing education. He has been instrumental in establishing and supporting our chapter scholarship fund, and was an active member of many of our chapter's committees over the years. Russ joined CSI in 1987.
Emeritus status is available to those over 70-years of age who have been members in good standing for the past consecutive 15 years. Members Emeritus retain all rights and privileges held at the time of application. There is no membership fee.
CSI also offers Retired Member status to those over 65-years of age who have been members in good standing for the past consecutive 5 years, as long as they are no longer engaged in income-producing activities. Members Emeritus retain all rights and privileges held at the time of application. The membership fee for Retired Members is $75 annually.
Both Emeritus and Retired change of status must be approved and recommended by the chapter. If you qualify and are interested in applying for either, contact one of our chapter officers or board members. More information: Membership Overview - Construction Specifications Institute
